Sergey Tokarev: AI Is for Humans’ Help Not Against Them

Despite the global use of Artificial Intelligence technology, many discussions around its threat regularly appear. Some experts started to worry about being displaced by AI. Numerous concerns related to issues with ownership rights, deep fake creations and others continue to be on air. Sergey Tokarev, co-founder and partner of the investment group Roosh, commented on those issues and showed up AI’s positive sides.

AI technologies have shocked the whole world with their break-neck development. It has brought significant changes in the world we live in. Sergey Tokarev noted that it revealed both positive feedback and concerns in various aspects. Regarding the latter, people came to the conclusion that some control under AI should be applied.

The matter of AI influence was raised at the AI Safety Summit, which took place in London in November 2023. Top officials from 28 countries and representatives of leading AI attended the world’s largest conference. As a result of the event, participants agreed to conduct safety testing on advanced AI models. The UK announced the establishment of the AI Safety Institute, which aimed at addressing the safety issues of AI in the interest of society.

Sergey Tokarev disagrees with such an approach. He understands that it is impossible to predict all the challenges the AI industry might bring in the future. However, it is essential to address them as soon as they emerge.

The businessman doesn’t accept the framing that AI is harmful to humanity. On the contrary, it has become a valuable tool to handle human routines.

“I believe that framing ‘AI poses a threat to humanity’ is harmful. Artificial Intelligence is merely a tool, and how it is applied is determined by those who create and use the technology. If we talk about responsibility, it undoubtedly lies with humans,” said Tokarev.

The investor proposes to view AI as Augmented intelligence as he believes AI can’t replace human intelligence. AI can enhance and complement it. Sergey Tokarev adds that due to technology, we can make our work more efficient. The IT entrepreneur exemplifies the practical implementation of AI in his projects.

“I know many tech companies write a significant part of their code by using various AI tools. Has this reduced the number of programmers? No. Has it reduced their workload? Also, no. It’s just that now experts can accomplish twice as much work in the same amount of time,” commented the investor.

The businessman mentioned the community AI HOUSE established to advance AI in Ukraine and create new product startups. The community is flourishing and promoting AI development within the country by conducting different projects. The educational charity project Ai for Ukraine is one among them. It represents a series of workshops and lectures delivered by global AI experts.

The Roosh co-founder believes that AI is a great tool developed for humans’ help, not against them. People should learn how to use it in their favor and simplify their routine tasks with the help of AI.
